"The Geological Society of America’s (GSA) Geologic Map of North America (Reed and others, 2005; 1:5,000,000) shows the geology of a significantly large area of the Earth, centered on North and Central America and including the submarine geology of parts of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. This map is now converted to a Geographic Information System (GIS) database that contains all geologic and base-map information shown on the two printed map sheets and the accompanying explanation sheet. We anticipate this map database will be revised at some unspecified time in the future, likely through the actions of a steering committee managed by the Geological Society of America (GSA) and staffed by scientists from agencies including, but not limited to, those responsible for the original map compilation (U.S. Geological Survey, Geological Survey of Canada, and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute)." Is best used for fault mapping and structural data, though is not ideal for finer details.
The EDI Data Portal contains environmental and ecological data packages contributed by a number of participating organizations. The FSA district boundaries are internal administrative collections of counties that are established at the state level. FSA does not have a formal national geospatial layer for District Directors’ district boundaries. The Deputy Administrator for Field Operations (DAFO) has been working with the states to update/adjust the number of districts in each state. DAFO manages these boundaries and they change as office closures and resource changes occur. Such a layer could be created, but the updated information must be received before a boundary file can be created. If a geographic boundary file were to be created, FSA would have to organize a regular cycle when DAFO provides updated information as changes occur, establish a process for creating that geospatial boundary layer, and determine where and how FSA would host this and make it accessible for the future. With the exception of NAIP imagery, none of the other geospatial layers are publicly releasable data. Under these circumstances, FSA has information that routinely changes and does not have the resources to provide this geospatial data at this time. Such spatial data would be primarily useful for FSA internal administrative use.

It is designed to allow users to discover, view and use geospatial data. The site is complementary to the Open Geography Portal. It allows access directly to data within the geography products, in machine-readable form, and using an Application Programming Interface.

NMFWRI represents the state’s only dedicated capability for supporting the spatial data analysis needs of external stakeholders in the natural resources sector, as well as the GIS/GPS capacity for Highlands University and for most of northern New Mexico. NMFWRI’s GIS work also provides help with maps and other geographic information to New Mexico groups engaged in forest restoration and land management, but who are too small to maintain their own GIS capability. These groups include soil and water conservation districts, municipalities, private groups and individuals, and tribal organizations.

From the site: "This raster dataset has been created using the "Floodplains from the PA Explorer CD-ROM edition" for each county in the study area as originated by the Office of Remote Sensing for Earth Resources, Penn State University (see metadata entitled "Bucks FP.doc"). All areas designated in the shapefile were assigned a conservation value of 5. Conservation values were determined by experts gathered by Natural Lands Trust through SmartConservation®. This data set is one of several that have been combined to create an overall aquatic resources conservation value raster for the expanded piedmont ecoregion. Therefore the values were determined as a relative rank, comparable in value only to the other input aquatic resources data. Conservation value ranges from 1 - 10 with 10 being the highest value."
