Interim executive report for DOE’s Office of Science, NNSA, and Applied Energy Offices, in collaboration with the Artificial Intelligence and Technology Office, DOE AI roundtable workshops (December 2021 through February 2022) (“AI@DOE”). These workshops were used to help identify AI research requirements and priorities for the next decade for Department of Energy in developing machine-learning-based prediction and decision-support capabilities that address and anticipate DOE mission challenges. ECMWF produces and disseminates weather forecast data for the National Meteorological and Hydrological services (NHMSs) of ECMWF member and co-operating states and their authorised users. The data are released 1 hour after the real-time dissemination schedule. A Python package called ecmwf-opendata is available from PyPi that greatly facilitates the access to this dataset. In addition, a series of Jupyter Notebooks have been developed to demonstrate the use of this package. One of the challenges around ESG disclosures is that the systems to produce, distribute and consume ESG data are significantly less mature than those for financial information. In this context, the FRC Lab (Lab) launched a project about the production, distribution and consumption of ESG data, with the first phase focusing on the production of ESG data.

Wave tank tests at Stevens Institute of Technology quantified the ability of near-surface platforms to concentrate wave energy over the platform. Due to the instantaneous change in water depth, mass, energy, and power are conserved in this process. The energy and power concentration factors ranged from 1 to 4 times the incident wave power as a function of incident wave period, wave height, and platform depth. Platform slope was set to zero for all 300 plus wave runs at platform top surface depths varying from 0.15 m to 1.10 m. This data set is extremely valuable to the MHK industry as water particle velocities over the platform were recorded at velocities on the order of 4x incident maximum orbital velocities based on Airy/Navier-Stokes theory. This term has been used "A change in effective water depth over which waves propagate". The only way I have been able to get the data to align with Airy wave theory is to use the top of tension leg platform (TLP) depth and a wave height corresponding to the change in the free surface elevation over the platform. The discrete change in effective water depth over which waves propagate is a topic of interest for fundamental hydrodynamic research as this implies there is an instantaneous convergence of group and phase velocities of waves at the TLP edge which shears the incident waves. This high shear rate makes the inviscid and irrotational assumptions and potential flow analysis invalid. This data set can be used as part of benchmarking any CFD which may be used to analyze this flow field. Using the top of the TLP as the "h" and full free-surface elevation change over the platform for "H", the maximum orbital velocities measured align with Airy/Navier-Stokes equations. If the tank depth is used for "h", or incident wave height is used for "H", the equations do not align with the data. Note that the SurfWEC system involves a non-inertial reference frame as the fully-submerged TLP is continuously experiencing positive and negative accelerations in most wave conditions; therefore, when a spring-mass (regenerative AHC winch - float) system is used for PTO, the "pseudo" centrifugal force must be accounted for in the loading to the system.

The net zero tracker aims to increase transparency and accountability of net zero targets pledged by nations, states and regions, cities and companies. They collect data on targets set and on many factors that indicate the integrity of those targets — essentially, how serious the entity setting the target is about meaningfully cutting its net emissions to zero.
OSTI has established an OAI (Open Archives Initiative) server to allow harvesting of metadata for full-text DOE research and development reports contained in OSTI.GOV. Included are reports in phsyics, chemistry, materials, biology, environmental sciences, energy technologies, engineering, computer and information science, renewable energy, and other topics. These reports are produced by DOE, the DOE National Laboratories, and DOE contractors and grantees primarily from 1991 forward.

Research in the SUPRI Heavy Oil Research Project is summarized here. There are six subdivisions in this project. The goal of Project 1 is to assess the influence of different reservoir conditions on the absolute and relative permeability to oil and water and on capillary pressure. Project 2 deals with the evaluation of the effects of different reservoir parameters on the in-situ combustion process including reaction kinetics. The object of Project 3 is to develop and understand the mechanisms of the process using commercially available surfactants for reduction of gravity override and channeling of steam. Project 4 is concerned with the development of techniques of formation evaluation such as tracer tests and pressure transient tests. Finally, Project 5 is concerned with the technical support for the design and monitoring of DOE sponsored or industry initiated field projects.

This collection continues to grow as new scientific and technical information resulting from DOE research becomes available. With over 2.85 million citations, SciTech Connect includes citations to 1.5 million journal articles, one million of which have digital object identifiers (DOIs) linking to full-text articles on publishers' websites. Additionally, SciTech Connect holds over 440,000 full-text DOE sponsored STI reports. Most full-text reports are post-1991, although over 143,000 of the reports were published prior to 1991.” Launched in 2013, SciTech Connect consolidates two previous DOE search engines, Information Bridge and Energy Citations Database, creating a single search interface for all R&D information. Thus, SciTech Connect contains over seventy years of energy-related citations and full-text documents created and/or collected by OSTI.
