The Global Lake Ecological Observatory Network (GLEON) LakeBase available at http://lakebase.gleon.org/ intends to provide a source lists all the lakes of the world and their key attributes. The LakeBase repository represents lakes of the world and their associated data of interest to lake scientists. LakeBase has nearly 200,000 data records (2010) and has two main interfaces, a map and a free-text search.
