Overview

The Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) Survey is a household-based longitudinal survey. HILDA provides longitudinal data on topics such as family dynamics, economic well-being, subjective well-being, and labour market dynamics. HILDA is funded by the Australian Government through the Department of Social Services (DSS) and is designed and managed by the Melbourne Institute at the University of Melbourne. Annual HILDA Statistical Reports present key findings from the survey. The HILDA survey sample allows for data analysis at higher level geographies such as state and SA4, but is not designed to support small area estimates. For more information, see ‘What level of geography can I use?’ in the Melbourne Institute’s Frequently Asked Questions page for HILDA: https://melbourneinstitute.unimelb.edu.au/hilda/for-data-users/frequently-asked-questions   Access to HILDA survey datasets must be requested and is provided at the discretion of the DSS. The request process involves completion of a Confidentiality Deed Poll and an application process. See the DSS Longitudinal Studies Dataverse for further details: https://dataverse.ada.edu.au/dataverse/DSSLongitudinalStudies
