The University of North Dakota (UND) Energy and Environmental Research Center (EERC), in partnership with the North Dakota Industrial Commission, ALLETE Clean Energy, Minnkota Power Cooperative, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), and Burns & McDonnell, will perform a pre-front-end engineering and design (pre- FEED) analysis and cost estimate for retrofitting MHI’s Kansai Mitsubishi Carbon Dioxide Recovery (KM-CDR™) amine-based post-combustion carbon dioxide (CO2) capture process with an existing coal-fired generating unit.
