Increasing awareness of the problems passed by nitrogen compounds in the refining of petroleum led to the establishment of API Research Project 52, July 1, 1954. The work of the project is at three locations the University of Kansas at Lawrence, Kansas and the U.S. Bureau of Mines stations at Laramie, Wyoming and Bartlesville, Okla. Project directors are C.A. VanderWerf, J.S. Ball and G. Waddington respectively.
