This spatial dataset contains the digital boundaries of all Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs) in Wales. AONBs are established under the Countryside Act of 1949, but unlike National Parks, AONBs are not created specifically for opportunities for recreation. However, recreation within AONBs is acceptable if it is consistent with the conservation and enhancement of natural beauty and the needs of agriculture, forestry and other uses.
